Meditation Apps for Phones and Tablets
In our modern world we have become increaingly dependant on the use of smart phones and tablets wherever we go. On the one hand, these are kind of the antithesis of learning to go back to the simplicity of the quiet meditative mind. However, there are apps that can be put on our gadgets that can also be very useful in supporting us to meditate more regularly and effectively.
The Insight Timer App
This is my favorite app. With this app it is possible to set the duration of time that you wish to meditate for and then be informed at the end of that time by the sound of a gorgeous Tibetan bowl. It also keeps a record of all of the meditations that you have done. If you are looking for a motivator to keep you meditating daily and your mind likes to achieve, then you will find the fact that it records how many days that you have meditated in a row very helpful – if you miss a day, it will go back to zero and you will have to start again!
The app also shows you how many others are meditating at the same time as you which can create a sense of being in an aligned community.
The app is free. For more information, go to: https://insighttimer.com
